The Injection Moulding Process is a manufacturing process used for producing parts or components by injecting molten material into the mold cavity. Injection molding can be performed with only one of these materials like glass, plastics, etc. and most commonly, thermoplastic polymers are used.

Plastic Molding Machine Working Principle

The main working principle of plastic molding machine is to use the plastic thermal physical properties. First, we auto loader the plastic material into the barrel, which is surround by heating elements melting the plastic. In the barrel which is assembled with servo motor screw. The plastic melt will flow up the screw and under the heating condition get tight and move forward to the screw head. At the same time, due to the plastic reacting force, the screw will step back. So at the screw head, it formed a plastic melt saving space to finish its plasticizing process. At the same time, under the injection hydraulic cylinder force, the screws will injection the plasticizing melt into the plastic mould through the nozzle. The plastic melt will remain in the mould cavity through the holding pressure, cooling, process, and then formed into solid shape ejected out of the mould. So the plastic molding machine main recycle process including: quantitative feeding-plasticizing-injection-molding the shape-pick up the piece, then close the mould to the 2nd recycle process.

Common working process of injection molding machine

  • Machine standby
  • mold close and clamp , the moving mold platen quickly approaching to the fixed mold platen (quick-slow-quick), and make sure there isn’t any foreign matter in the mold area,mold closed with high pressure.
  • injection carriage moving forward and machine’s nozzle touch the main sprue of mold.
  • machine do the injection, push the melt material from the barrel into the mold cavity.
  • Cooling and pressure holding,  you can set the holding pressure and time while the mold cavity is cooling
  • charge. the product inside the mold cavity is still under cooling.the hydraulic motor driving the screw and push the melt material forward. the screw will backward under the set back-pressure. when the screw backward to the set position, hydraulic motor stop working and charge finished.
  • injection carriage backward moving.  Generally, for the injection carriage backward is canceled during the production.
  • mold open.  moving mold platen moving to the set position. (slow-quick-slow)
  • ejection.  the machine eject out the product
  • mold closing and continue the next cycle.
